Scholars, researchers, industry practitioners, policymakers, climate financiers and local actors are invited to submit abstracts for the International Conference on Renewable Energy, Climate Change and Ecosystems Restoration (ICRECC-2026).

ICRECC-2026 will be held from September 8 to September 11, 2026, at The Blueberry Villas in Eldoret City, Kenya. This year’s conference focuses on bridging the gap between advanced technology, circular economics and community-led ecosystem restoration to drive resilient interventions.

Conference Overview & Context

Degraded ecosystems and climate change represent two of the most persistent global challenges affecting humanity. These issues are profoundly interlinked: climate change acts as a primary driver of ecosystem degradation, while robust ecosystem restoration efforts offer critical pathways to mitigating climate change impacts.

To build resilient communities, ICRECC-2026 champions a combined approach, uniting ecosystem restoration, renewable energy integration and circularity. By fostering synergy among diverse stakeholders, this conference aims to scale up local and global climate action, maximize human-machine collaborations and promote sustainable investments where they are needed most.

We welcome abstract submissions aligned to the main theme: Restoration, Circularity and Industry 4.0+ Technologies for Resilient Ecosystems under any one of the following seven (7) sub-themes:

  1. Restoration of Ecosystems
    • Focuses on nature-based solutions, innovations and advancements aimed at repairing and sustaining degraded landscapes. Topics include:
      • Restoration of natural landscapes (e.g., quarries, water catchment areas).
      • Management of hydrological systems (riparian lands, water towers/forests, water reservoirs, clean rivers, and wetlands).
      • Urban ecosystem restoration and architectural landscapes.
      • Aquaculture and marine ecosystems.
      • Farmland restoration (agroforestry, low-carbon agriculture, and restoring degraded farmlands).
      • Natural resource management (seed banks for indigenous trees, livestock and aquatic life).
      • Governance frameworks on ecosystem restoration.
      • Carbon markets.
  2. Biodiversity and Circularity
    • Addresses biodiversity loss caused by resource extraction, material processing, and land-use change by encouraging regenerative models that reduce raw material demands. Topics include:
      • Terrestrial and marine biodiversity.
      • Wildlife management.
      • One Health approach to biodiversity.
      • Risk management strategies.
      • Circularity approaches to biodiversity and circular bioeconomy.
      • Nutrients and water recycling, and optimizing biomass production.
  3. Pollution and Waste Management
    • Focuses on incidences, remedial technologies, innovations, waste value chains, and circular economic opportunities. Topics include:
      • Household waste management, dump sites and landfills.
      • Organic wastes and waste from pharmaceuticals.
      • Plastic waste recycling and upcycling.
      • Electronic waste mining and urban mining opportunities.
      • Heavy metal pollution and nanomaterials/emerging pollutants.
      • Air pollution (particulate matter, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, aerosols and petroleum-based fuels with high greenhouse effects).
      • Industrial waste disposal.
      • Policy, legal and regulatory frameworks.
  4. Renewable Energy and Sustainable Energy Transitions
    • Explores energy access, equity, affordability, and clean energy technologies. Topics include:
      • Solar, wind, geothermal energy, and the future of biofuels.
      • Energy-mix, electrification, and storage systems.
      • Integrating renewables into urban workflows and emerging technology.
      • Policy frameworks supporting renewable energy utility.
  5. Sustainable City Technologies
    • Invites contributions aligned with smart infrastructure, circular urban systems, and sustainable municipal workflows. Topics include:
      • Urban planning, smart parking, and sustainable transport.
      • Green building technologies.
      • Stormwater collection and sewer management.
      • Urban agricultural practices.
      • The utilization of drones for sustainable supply and delivery networks.
      • Policy frameworks supporting sustainable cities.
  6. Emerging Technologies
    • Focuses on the integration of Industry 4.0+ foundational models (big data, AI, IoT, robotics, blockchain, cloud computing) to improve ecosystem resilience and operational accuracy. Topics include:
      • Big Data and AI climate solutions (precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, real-time pollution tracking like NEMA COSMS).
      • Smart clean-energy (solar) drones driven by AI for reforestation monitoring, pest control, and early weather warnings.
      • Green technologies, bio-innovations, and sustainable chemistry.
      • Water-saving technologies.
      • Smart grid technologies for energy distribution and smart urban systems.
      • Research and innovations across STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fields.
      • Ethics, policy, and regulatory frameworks in data handling.
  7. Cross-Cutting Areas
    • Designed for multidisciplinary or complementary contributions that bridge multiple fields. Topics include:
      • Indigenous Knowledge Systems & Culture: Traditional farming (livestock rearing, terracing, mixed cropping), wetland conservation, and cultural/religious preservation practices (sacred forests, traditional medicine habitats).
      • Climate Change and Health: Impact, public health research, and adaptation strategies for climate-induced diseases.
      • Food Security & Livelihoods: Technologies, innovations, and mitigation frameworks targeting food access, availability, and nutrition stability during climate shocks (droughts, floods, landslides).
